Cape Girardeau County

Contractor crews will soon begin work to improve two sections of Route 177 in Cape Girardeau County. The project will help mitigate issues with flooding by raising the roadway. The north end of the project will improve the Scism Creek area located from Rolling Hills Drive to Old Route V in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In addition to raising the roadway, a bridge will be constructed south of County Road 651. The south end of the project will improve the Juden Creek area located from County Road 643 to Cedar Hills Lane in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Improvements to this section will include raising the roadway and relocating the centerline slightly to the south of its existing location. This will also require a slight realignment of County Road 657 in order to tie into the new profile. Weather permitting, construction will begin on the north end of the project (Scism Creek area) at 6 a.m. Monday, March 7. During this time, Route 177 will be closed from Rolling Hills Drive to Old Route V. Once work is completed at the north end of the project, construction will then move to the south end of the project (Juden Creek area). As work is underway on the south end of the project, Route 177 will be closed from County Road 643 to Cedar Hills Lane. Additional details will be shared as work progresses. Completion of the Route 177 project is anticipated on Nov. 1, 2022, weather permitting. The work zones will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.

Route Y in Cape Girardeau County will be closed as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.  This section of roadway is located from Route V to County Road 621.  Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
