Cape Girardeau County

Construction of the diverging diamond interchange at Interstate 55 and U.S. Route 61 (mile marker 99) between Cape Girardeau and Jackson, Missouri, is underway. During this phase of construction, contractor crews will replace the southbound I-55 bridge. Completion of the southbound bridge is anticipated in Dec. 2020. Route 61- Various, short sections of Route 61 in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced with a 12-foot width restriction as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform drainage repairs.

Improvements will be completed in the following locations on Route 61 (Jackson Boulevard) in Jackson, Missouri:

  • from South Hope Street to South Missouri Street
  • from Donna Drive to South Shawnee Boulevard
  • from Huber Crest Drive to Chert Lane

Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Route 61 (High St.) in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs. This section of roadway is located from West Independence Street to Barton Square in Jackson, Missouri. Weather permitting, work will take place over night beginning Sunday, Aug. 16 through Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. daily.

SB Interstate 55 in Cape Girardeau and Scott Counties will be reduced with a 10-foot width restriction as contractor crews perform pavement improvements. This section of roadway is located from mile marker 95 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to mile marker 80 near Benton, Missouri. Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, June 1 to Thursday, Oct. 1 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., daily.

NB Interstate 55 in Scott and Cape Girardeau Counties will be reduced with a 10-foot width restriction as contractor crews perform pavement improvements. This section of roadway is located from mile marker 80 near Benton, Missouri to mile marker 95 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Weather permitting, work will take place Wednesday, July 22 through Thursday, Oct. 1 from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., daily.

Route AA in Cape Girardeau County will be closed as contractor crews replace the Caney Fork bridge near Daisy, Missouri. This section of roadway is located between County Road 475 and County Road 477. Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, July 27, with completion anticipated Thursday, Oct. 8. This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
