Collector-Distributor (CD) Roads

This project includes Collector-distributor (CD) roads. CD Roads are separated from the freeway’s main driving lanes. Their primary purpose is to allow the entry and exit movements, or weaves, to occur away from the high-speed traffic on the main driving lanes. A CD Road is similar to an exit ramp, but is typically longer, and has the advantage of allowing drivers to bypass traffic signals at intersections. The collector lanes are usually separated by a barrier wall from the main driving lanes of the highway.

Auxiliary Lanes

This project also includes auxiliary lanes, which connect the entrance ramp at one interchange to the exit ramp at the next interchange. The additional lane allows more space to merge onto or off of the interstate in its own lane, instead of in one of the main highway through lanes.

    • Reconstructed sidewalk on north side of Clark Ln. from Sylvan Ln. to the Hinkson Creek bridge.
