MoDOT, in partnership with its Design-Build contractor, The ESS Team, will be hosting two public hearings highlighting the basic project plans, construction phasing, and schedule of the Improve I-70: Rocheport to Columbia project on both Monday, March 2, and Wednesday, March 4 in Columbia.

The open-house-style hearings will provide the opportunity for nearby residents, businesses, and travelers to learn about and provide comments regarding the planned improvements. No formal presentation will be made. The public can attend the hearings any time between the advertised hours. The information will be the same at each location. Engineers from MoDOT and the Design-Build contractor team, The ESS Team, will be present to answer questions. There will be an opportunity for the public to give written and recorded oral statements at these in-person public hearings.

Future improvements at I-70 and Midway. Improvements include new dogbone interchange, relocated eastbound I-70 on ramp, and new truck parking facilities.
Future improvements at I-70 interchange and Providence Rd. in Columbia. Improvements include a new diamond interchange, a new collector distributor (CD) road to reduce weaving, and additional turn lanes on the I-70 off ramps at Providence Rd.
Future improvements at I-70 interchange and Rangeline St. in Columbia. Improvements include a new enhanced dogbone interchange, a collector distributor (CD) road to reduce weaving, and a widened eastbound I-70 bridge to improve sight lines.
Future improvements at the Paris Rd. and Business Loop 70 intersection. Improvements include a new at-grade signalized intersection. It removes the old structures over the Business Loop and provides new east/west sidewalk connections.
Future improvements at I-70 and Perche Creek. Improvements include new I-70 mainline bridges, new roads and bridges to connect the north and south outer roads from Midway to Stadium Blvd.
Future improvements at I-70 and U.S. Route 63. These improvements include brand new direct connection ramps from southbound U.S. Route 63 to westbound I-70, westbound I-70 to northbound U.S. Route 63, and westbound I-70 to southbound U.S. Route 63, and several new pedestrian improvements.

Collector-Distributor (CD) Roads
Collector-distributor (CD) roads are separated from the freeway’s main driving lanes. Their primary purpose is to allow the entry and exit movements, or weaves, to occur away from the high-speed traffic on the main driving lanes. A CD Road is similar to an exit ramp, but is typically longer, and has the advantage of allowing drivers to bypass traffic signals at intersections. The collector lanes are usually separated by a barrier wall from the main driving lanes of the highway.
Auxiliary Lanes
This project includes auxiliary lanes, which connect the entrance ramp at one interchange to the exit ramp at the next interchange. The additional lane allows more space to merge onto or off of the interstate in its own lane, instead of in one of the main highway through lanes.
