31: Maintenance Management System (MMS) Phase 1

Submitted by: Central Office - Maintenance

Innovation Description and Benefit:

The MoDOT Maintenance Division oversees the day-to-day operations of maintaining the State of Missouri’s highway system.  There are approximately 3,000 maintenance employees performing a variety of activities that include mowing, winter operations, pavement repair, bridge flushing, and striping, to name a few. MoDOT committed to building a custom web application in 2016 that would be designed specifically for MoDOT Maintenance staff.  The Maintenance Management System (MMS) Phase 1 project went live in November 2019. MMS now provides the Department an application that is both efficient and user-friendly, improves data accuracy when recording maintenance activities, helps us manage our assets, and quickly provides results.  MMS is also web-responsive so it can be used on desktops, laptops, tablets, and cell phones.  Touchscreen laptops were purchased for each building and kiosks set up so MMS users could quickly document their work at the end of the day.
