Boone/Callaway County U.S. Route 63 Bridge Rehabilitation Project Milestones

Boone County Route AC (Grindstone Parkway) Bridge Over U.S. Route 63

The Route AC (Grindstone Parkway) Bridge will be closed to traffic while work is taking place. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 3 and is expected to be complete by  the end of summer, 2019. Signs will be in place to alert motorists of the closure and a detour will be in place during construction. Ramps on and off of Route 63 will remain open while work takes place.

U.S. Route 63 Northbound Bridge over Bonne Femme Creek

Traffic will be reduced to one lane while work takes place. Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 10 and is expected to be completed by early August.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane while work takes place. Work on the northbound lanes of the bridge is scheduled to begin in September and is expected to be completed in October.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane while work takes place. Work is scheduled to begin in 2020 and is expected to be completed in 2020. 

Why is this work necessary?

The rehabilitation and preventive maintenance taking place is necessary to extend the life of the bridges.

How will traffic be affected?

During construction, the Route AC (Grindstone) bridge in Columbia will be closed for up to 60 days. The ramps to Route 63 will remain open at the Route AC bridge. Signs will alert motorists of the closed bridge and a detour will be signed during construction. Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes around the construction. All other Route 63 bridges will remain open to one lane of traffic at all times.

When will the work take place?

The project is scheduled to be awarded in the spring of 2019, with construction starting in the summer of 2019, and continuing into the spring of 2020

Will additional right of way be needed to construct these projects?

No new right of way will be required.

What will the project cost?

The total cost is approximately $3.9 million.
