Final Phase of Route 63 Bridge Improvement Project Rescheduled to Begin March 30

BOONE/CALLAWAY COUNTY – Due to weather, the last bridge rehabilitation along U.S. Route 63, between Columbia and Jefferson City, has been rescheduled to begin next week.

Contractors working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will rehabilitate the deck of the Route 63 bridge over Cedar Creek on Monday, March 30. This work will close one southbound lane for up to 45 days in order to extend the life of the bridge.

Six other bridge decks between Route AC (Grindstone Avenue) in Columbia and the Katy Trail bridge in Callaway County were previously repaired as part of this project in 2019. Motorists may see overnight, single-lane closures to complete planned follow-up repairs at those locations. Closures would take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Motorists are advised to obey all traffic signs, drive with caution, put phones down and expect possible delays through work zones.

Work is weather permitting and could be delayed. For more information about this project or other transportation-related matters, please call 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636) or visit www.modot.org/central. Follow the MoDOT Central Missouri District on Facebook and Twitter for project updates.
