The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), working with its consultant EFK Moen, LLC, is preparing for an interchange and intersection safety improvement project in Macon County. This project will improve mobility and capacity at the U.S. Route 63/U.S. Route 36 interchange in Macon.
MoDOT will host an open-house style public meeting for its Route AC (New Halls Ferry Rd.) corridor upgrades project. The meeting will focus on proposed plans for improvement of Route AC from south of I-270 to St. Cyr Rd. Planned improvements include resurfacing the existing roadway, updating the corridor's pedestrian infrastructure to meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements, and upgrading traffic signals.
MoDOT is working on a preliminary design for expanding westbound U.S. Route 54 in Jefferson City to three lanes and reconfiguring the Callaway County Route W (Airport Road) ramps to accommodate the new lane.

The project includes bridge deck replacements on the Carroll County Route JJ bridge over West Fork Wakenda Creek, the Carroll County Route B bridge over Sambo Creek, the Chariton County Route KK bridge over the Little Chariton River and the Livingston County Route D bridge over the Shoal Creek Drainage Ditch.

The meeting will allow the public to share their thoughts and concerns about the design for the bridge projects and to provide comments, either directly to the engineers or through a comment form. No formal presentation will be made.

The meeting will take place May 27, 2025, from 4 pm - 7pm at the North Kansas City YMCA located at 1999 Iron Street, North Kansas City, MO 64116. An in-person public meeting will help determine what best serves the needs of the roughly 1,300 motorists who use the bridge on an average day while being responsible stewards of available funding. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions, provide information, and receive direct feedback on construction staging and answer questions from the community.
