Corridor Improvements and signal upgrades on U.S. Route 40 from Cliff Avenue to Little Blue Parkway to improve traffic flow and safety along the Route 40 corridor.
The project includes improving Route D (North Washington Street) from Route EE (Burks Road) to Route 32 (Karsch Boulevard). The project will widen Route D with a two-way, left-turn lane from Hillsboro Road to Route 32; extend the right-turn lane to better accommodate the southbound to westbound movement from Route D onto Route 32; rebuild the roadway (full-depth replacement) from Route EE to Route 32 to address the current pavement conditions; and improve drainage. The box culvert crossing Route D near Route 32 will also be extended to the west to provide more clearance for vehicles making a right turn onto Route 32. Additionally, it will update pedestrian facilities on the eastside of Route D to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. As part of the safety improvement project, access management measures will be implemented to reduce conflict points along the corridor.

This work is part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project covering the eastern portion of I-70. It was awarded in November 2024. Construction is set to continue through 2028.
Missouri’s FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville. For more information on the Improve I-70 Program and to sign up for program e-mails, visit http://www.modot.org/improvei70.

The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to replace two bridges on Route M and one bridge on Route C in Madison County. The bridges will be replaced with wider structures.
The projects include:
During construction, the roadway will be closed in the vicinity of each bridge for approximately three months. Closures of County Road 310 and County Road 301 will be necessary as construction is underway for the Route M bridges over Shetley Creek and East Fork Big Creek, respectively.
Work to replace the Route M bridges could begin as early as December 2026. Work to replace the Route C bridge is anticipated to begin in summer 2027 to minimize impacts to the local school district.
MoDOT plans to replace the Route OO bridge over the Whitewater River in Cape Girardeau County. The bridge is located four miles south of Burfordville, Missouri between County Road 379 and County Road 365. The new bridge will be 26 feet wide, six feet wider than the existing structure.
Work to replace the bridge could begin as early as summer 2026. During construction, the roadway will be closed in the vicinity of the bridge for approximately five months. A signed detour will be in place.
Due to the proximity of the Route OO bridge to the Route Z bridges over Hubble Creek and Hubble Creek Overflow near Gordonville, Missouri, the construction schedules will be coordinated to avoid closing the routes simultaneously.
