Districts Impacted
The Grand River Bridge on Carroll/Chariton County Route M was built in 1983 and carries approximately 300 vehicles per day. The driving surface of the 1,620-foot long bridge needs a preventive maintenance treatment, and the supporting structures are showing signs of age and require repair. MoDOT is designing a project to complete this necessary work.
Route M over the bridge will be closed beginning Monday, July 15. The project was complete and the roadway reopened to traffic on October 14, 2024.
Project Progress
MoDOT's Planning and Design team are designing a project which will rehabilitate the bridge's driving surface and repair the super and substructures at the bridge.
MoDOT solicited the public's input during an open comment period, held Sept. 6 - 20, during the project's Design phase. The comment period is now closed.
This project was part of MoDOT's May 2023 letting, when contractors submitted competitive bids on the project.
At their June 2023 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $866,867.50 contract to Hardy Construction, LLC, to complete the bridge rehabilitation project.
The earliest date the contractor could begin work is July 10, 2023.
Route M over the Grand River closed beginning Monday, July 15. The project was completed and the roadway reopened on October 14, 2024.
By contract, all work must be complete on or before Oct. 1, 2024.
