Public Meeting Information

Although the first public meeting for this is closed, the below information was presented during those meetings.

What is the issue?

Although the corridor is generally safe, there are some areas that can potentially be improved as part of this needed maintenance. MoDOT can see a lot of the facts about areas in the corridor –the number and types of crashes for instance – but it is helpful to hear what the community sees in each location, and what options the department could include to address safety and accessibility along the corridor. As we do this work, we want to be able to help the community meet its vision for the future.

What we know

Although this maintenance is needed to ensure the bridges remain safe and operational in the future, there is the opportunity to make adjustments to some of the bridges to improve how safe the roadways are for all users, and to ensure that people are able to better access areas on both sides of the interstate through the corridor. The department is studying how people use each bridge and talking to stakeholders to evaluate how to better incorporate these bridges, if possible into the community’s vision and growth plans. We are asking the public to provide feedback on the current problems along the corridor and how those problems impact their daily commute.

We want to hear from you

Since you live, work, play and travel through the corridor, you have seen how people use the corridor around you. The facts tell a part of the story, but your observations on how people are able to use the corridor or thoughts on how they may be better able to travel along the corridor help to complete the story. Share with us how we can improve safety and accessibility for all users.
