Project Summary

The Route AC project will provide improvements along the corridor between Route 67 (Lindbergh) and I-270 to address rising crash patterns and improve safety for motorists and pedestrians.

A Road Safety Audit (RSA) is being conducted to evaluate improvements, which may include resurfacing, along with sidewalk, signal and other safety upgrades.

Corridor Information

  • 20,000 - 29,000 vehicles travel the corridor on a daily basis
  • Between 2019 and 2023, there have been a total of 1,429 crashes, including five fatal and 401 with injury.
  • 81% of motorists are speeding north of Parker Rd.
  • 33% of motorists are speeding south of Parker Rd.

Potential Improvements

  • Speed mitigation measures such as curb extensions and narrowed shoulders
  • Raised center medians and access management
  • Pedestrian enhancements including improved sidewalks
  • Signal and lighting enhancements

Anticipated Outcomes

  • Reduction in fatal and serious injury crashes
  • Reduced vehicular speeds
  • Improved comfort for all corridor users
  • Improved non-motorized connectivity for bike, pedestrian and transit users
