Hopper Topper

Innovation Description and Benefit:

We had an issue with not being able to load enough beads in our bead boxes on the nurse truck and the safety hazard of loading beads directly into the box straight from the bags the beads come in.  We fabricated a metal box with a chute at the bottom that is opened and closed by using a lever on the side that is locked in place when the chute is closed to prevent the chute from coming open by accident.  This allows us to have our bead tanks completely full.

Using 2400 lb. bags sometimes we cannot get our tanks full, and they can be as much as 2000 lbs. low.  That can be the difference in finishing a route or having to come back for a small part and cost us an extra day. This saves time and money by being able to finish painting a route instead of having to come back and get the extra beads needed.  Improves safety by securing the 2400 lbs. of beads to the mast of the forklift instead of using the straps on the bags that can slip off the forks.
