South Moreau Creek Bridge Replacement
Below are details, resources and news about the replacement of the Cole County Route A bridge over South Moreau Creek, located south of Russellville. Built in mid-1960s, this bridge reached a condition where replacement was necessary.
This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
Project Details
When:
The project was completed on October 20, 2022.
Cost:
The contracted cost of the project is $1,965,191 (includes the Route A Bridge in Moniteau County).
Work Taking Place:
The existing South Moreau Bridge was replaced with a new bridge that removes current weight restrictions and includes two travel lanes across the new bridge deck that are four feet wider than the former bridge.
Project Milestones
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the contract to Gene Haile Excavating, which submitted the low bid of $1,956,191. The contract also includes the Moniteau County Route A bridge replacement over Enon Creek.
Work began on August 1, 2022.
The new bridge was opened on October 20, 2022.
