MoDOT Releases Details Regarding 2022 Cole County Bridge Replacement Project

Public Invited to Comment Online thru June 7

COLE COUNTY - Information is now available regarding the replacement of the Cole County Route A bridge over South Moreau Creek, located south of Russellville. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is inviting nearby residents and travelers to share their thoughts.

The existing bridge was built in the mid 1960’s and has reached the point where replacement is necessary. The proposed new bridge will remove current weight restrictions, and the driving surface will include two travel lanes and will widen the bridge deck by four feet, increasing safety for motorists.

Route A will be closed to traffic at the bridge during construction. Motorists will need to use alternate routes. MoDOT says road closure information will be announced through signs, media releases and social media when a timeline for the project has been established.

The work is expected to begin and be completed in 2022.

Motorists and area residents can ask questions or provide feedback on this project using the digital comment form at modot.org/SouthMoreauCreek. The online public comment period is open through June 7.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
