Route 54/63 Bridge Rehabilitations Over the Missouri River

Below are details, resources and news about the rehabilitations of the U.S. Route 54/63 bridges over the Missouri River in Jefferson City. The existing eastbound Route 54/northbound Route 63 bridge was constructed in 1991 and the existing westbound Route 54/southbound Route 63 bridge was constructed in 1955. Each bridge carries approximately 26,000 vehicles per day.

The project took place in 2021. 

Cost: 

On February 3, 2021, The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the project to KCI Construction, which submitted the low bid of $4,125,000.

Work Taking Place

Crews rehabilitated both of the Route 54/63 bridges. This was regular maintenance procedures meant to extend the lives of the bridges. Work on the eastbound bridge included repairing the deck, expansion joints and piers, and applying an overlay to the driving surface. Work on the westbound bridge consisted of repairing all its piers.
