Bridge Deck Improvements to Begin on Missouri River Bridge

JEFFERSON CITY – The next phase of an ongoing rehabilitation project on the U.S. Route 54/63 bridges over the Missouri River in Jefferson City will begin to impact nighttime traffic next week.

Work on the bridge structure began in March. Beginning on Tuesday, July 6, a contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will begin repairing the deck of the eastbound Route 54/63 bridge.

This work will require nightly lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Signs will be in place to alert motorists of the lane closures. MoDOT encourages all drivers to slow down through work zones, obey all traffic signs and give workers on the road plenty of space.

The project is expected to be completed by December 1, 2021. More details on the project are available at www.modot.org/JeffCityBridges.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed. For more information and updates about this project or other transportation-related matters, please call 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636) or visit www.modot.org/JeffCityBridges.
