Crews will resurface and widen the shoulders of Route 135, to accommodate new rumble strips, between Interstate 70 in Cooper County and U.S. Route 50 in Pettis County, and will resurface the entire length of Route 98, east of Boonville.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded Magruder Paving the contract after submitting the low bid of $4,955,267.

Project Details

When: The project is expected to begin July 6.

Cost: $4,955,267

Work Taking Place: Crews will be extending multiple box culverts along Route 135 in Cooper County to accommodate the wider shoulders, and will replace a deep culvert pipe on Route 135 in Pettis County at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Route 135. This project will also require crews to repair the pavement on the Interstate 70 ramps at exit 98, which leads to Routes 135/41 at Arrow Rock/Pilot Grove in Cooper County. Once completed, crews will begin resurfacing and widening the shoulders of Route 135, to accommodate new rumble strips, between I-70 in Cooper County and Route 50 in Pettis County. Crews will then resurface the entire length of Route 98, east of Boonville.

Traffic Impact: To prepare for the upcoming resurfacing and shoulder widening project on Route 135, crews will be extending multiple box culverts in Cooper County. This work will accommodate the new wider shoulders. There will be intermittent lane closures on Route 135 during this work, with flaggers guiding motorists through the work zones.

Crews will replace a deep culvert pipe on Route 135 in Pettis County at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Route 135. Route 135 will be closed for up to three days to complete this work. Message boards will alert the public of the closure and to seek alternate routes.

This project will also require crews to repair the pavement on the Interstate 70 ramps at exit 98, which leads to Routes 135/41 at Arrow Rock/Pilot Grove in Cooper County. This work will require intermittent closures on those ramps, and motorists will be asked to use alternate routes.

When crews widen the shoulders of Route 135 and resurface both Route 135 and Route 98, there will be various lane closures. Motorists are asked to slow down, pay attention and put away distractions in work zones. Flaggers, pilot vehicles and signs will guide motorists through the work zones.
