Innovation Description and Benefit:
The Sign Height Helper is a simple yet highly effective tool designed to improve accuracy, safety, and efficiency when installing roadway signs. This 5-foot stick with an attached laser level allows crews to measure sign post height quickly and precisely, even when posts are installed in ditches at varying elevations. Unlike the old peep-site method, which required workers to stand in the roadway and lose peripheral vision, the Sign Height Helper enables measurements from a safe position off the road, reducing exposure to traffic and improving safety. The tool also doubles as a tamping stick, adding versatility. By streamlining the measurement process, it reduces labor hours, allows one person to take measurements while another installs signs, and ensures uniform sign height for a professional, consistent appearance. This innovation saves time, simplifies work, and increases productivity, enabling crews to install more signs correctly and safely each day.
