Innovation Description and Benefit:
The Houston Handy Hopper is a compact, solar-powered pothole material box designed to improve efficiency, safety, and inventory accuracy during patching operations. Built with an ergonomic tray at an optimal height, it reduces strain on workers and simplifies loading compared to traditional dump truck setups. The smaller volume heats material faster, enabling quicker job completion, while the integrated counter tracks material usage for precise inventory management. Fully self-contained, the unit features a solar panel for power, a battery for storage, strobe lights for visibility, and a damper system for safe transport. This innovation enhances convenience, improves safety for shovel operators, and delivers accurate material tracking, making pothole patching faster and more efficient.
