The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to replace three bridges on U.S. Route 67 in Butler County.

The projects include:

  • Replacing the U.S. 67 bridge over Harviell Ditch between County Road 340 and County Road 352. Prior to the start of construction, the new four-lane section of Future I-57 will be completed just south of this structure. During construction, existing U.S. 67 will be closed in the vicinity of the bridge. Travelers will utilize the upgraded section of U.S. 67 during this time.
  • Replacing the U.S. 67 bridge over Hart Ditch, located south of Route MM/County Road 350. A temporary bypass will be constructed adjacent to the existing bridge during construction.
  • Replacing the U.S. 67 bridge over Neelyville Ditch, located north of Route 142 near Neelyville, Missouri. A temporary bypass will be constructed adjacent to the existing bridge during construction.

Tentatively, the three bridges will be let in November 2026, with construction beginning as early as spring 2027. Construction will be underway for approximately four months at each structure.

The environmental study examined options for increasing capacity, as well as the impact of those options, for the 20-mile section of U.S. 412 extending from Route AC near the Arkansas border to just east of Route Y near Kennett, Missouri.

After extensive review, two alternatives for increasing capacity were identified. During the public hearing, the preferred alternative of a four-lane undivided highway with a flush median will be shared. The preferred alternative includes an additional lane for turning traffic at intersections (5-lane with two-way left turn lane at intersections). Funding has not been secured for construction at this time.

The EA under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), evaluated potential impacts the proposed transportation improvements could have on the project area. The study balances the need to improve the roadway with several community goals. The EA is now available for review on the project webpage:  modot.org/412. An online comment form is also available via the project webpage. Comments will be accepted through Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
