Project Update
Crews will work to remove and rebuild the shoulders of the roadway on Missouri Route 1, from approximately 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., Sept. 19-Oct. 21. This work will take place on southbound Route 1 from Route 210 to south of I-35. This work will require a flagging operation at times during the completion of the work. While one lane will remain open, motorists should expect delays in the area. After completion of the shoulder work on southbound Route 1, crews will begin on the shoulder of northbound Route 1.
Crews are completing work on the project that will not have an impact to traffic. This work includes:
- ADA improvements including new sidewalks
- Partial and full depth repairs
This work is taking place in conjunction with the following lane closures during weekdays, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 22-mid-September.
Route 1 from south of I-35 to Parvin Road: The southbound lane of Route 1 will be closed from south of I-35 to Parvin Road. Once work is completed in the southbound lane, crews will move to the northbound lane of Route 1 from south of I-35 to Parvin Rd.
Route 1 from Parvin Road to Route 210: The southbound lane of Route 1 will be closed from Parvin Road to Route 210. Once work is completed in the southbound lane, crews will move to the northbound lane of Route 1 from Parvin Rd. to Route 210.
Route 1 Resurfacing project begins.
This work will require various lane closures on Route 1 from Missouri Route 210 to south of Interstate 35. One lane will remain open at all times. This project will require a flagging operation and motorists should expect delays in the area. All work is weather permitting.
The following lane closures are expected from beginning at 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 22-mid-September
Route 1 from south of I-35 to Parvin Road: The southbound lane of Route 1 will be closed from south of I-35 to Parvin Road. Once work is completed in the southbound lane, crews will move to the northbound lane of Route 1 from south of I-35 to Parvin Rd.
Route 1 from Parvin Road to Route 210: The southbound lane of Route 1 will be closed from Parvin Road to Route 210. Once work is completed in the southbound lane, crews will move to the northbound lane of Route 1 from Parvin Rd. to Route 210.
Project Details
After careful study (pavement cores and observation of pavement surface) by MoDOT's pavement engineers, it has been recommended that the travel lanes of Route 1 from Route 210 to the ramps at south I-35 should undergo a 1 3/4' mill and fill roadway improvement plan. It's also been determined that the shoulders should be reconstructed (replaced). The suggested changes would help improve motorist safety.
What is MoDOT doing on this project?
MoDOT plans to resurface the pavement, replace the shoulders, and complete ADA improvements along Route 1 from Route 210 to the south ramps at I-35.
Why is this work being done?
It has been determined that the pavement along this stretch of roadway is deteriorating and safety is now a concern.
What is the timeline for this project?
Work on this project is anticipated to begin June 2022. The project will now begin on Aug. 22, 2022.
The completion date will remain the same. Completion of the project is expected for December 2022.
Will this work impact traffic?
While one lane will remain open during the project, there may be times when motorists experience delays in the open lane during construction.
How much will this project cost?
The estimated cost of this project is $1.5 million
Who is paying for this work/project?
This project is being funded by MoDOT.
