FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why is this project happening?
The eastbound bridge over the South Fork of the Blackwater River was constructed in 1965. Although safe to drive on, the bridge has reached the end of its service life.
What will be the traffic implications?
U.S. Route 50 will remain open in both directions but be reduced to one lane in each direction. Temporary crossovers will be utilized to move traffic through the area on the westbound lanes of Route 50.
Some movements at the Route W/Z intersection will be restricted:
- The right turn from US-50 EB to Route W South will remain open.
- The right turn from Route W to US-50 EB will be closed (detour using Route W, MO-58, & MO-131 to US-50).
- The left turn from US-50 EB to Route Z north will be closed (detour by continuing on US-50 EB and using the J-Turn to take US-50 WB back to Route Z).
- The right turns to/from US-50 WB at Route Z will remain open.
How much will this project cost?
This project will cost roughly $3 million and will use federal funds.
