Project Summary
A project to replace the Shoal Creek bridge on Caldwell County Route D, install guardrail and include approach work was originally programmed into the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) to go out for contractor letting in December 2025.
Following a routine inspection, MoDOT closed the bridge on June 25, 2024, due to advanced deterioration throughout the bridge. MoDOT pushed the project up from a December 2025 letting to a January 2025 letting. The contractor may begin construction as early as spring 2025 and all work must be complete on or before Dec. 1, 2025, to meet contract requirements.
MoDOT and consultants from Bartlett & West are designing a project to complete this necessary work.
Project Milestones
MoDOT and consultants from Bartlett & West are designing a project which will replace the bridge’s structure and driving surface, rebuild the approaches and install guardrail.
Contractors may submit competitive bids during MoDOT's scheduled lettings. This project is scheduled to be a part of the January 2025 letting. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission will consider all submitted bids at its scheduled monthly meeting in February 2025. If the lowest submitted bid meets all necessary criteria, the MHTC may award contracts at that time.
MoDOT will work with the contractor to determine a schedule after the project is awarded. Motorists will need to seek an alternate route around the closure.
By contract, all work must be completed on or before Dec. 1, 2025.
