About the Project

The truss bridge over Big Creek and the Rock Island Trail on MO Route 7 (Dr. Fred L Seevers Memorial Bridge) built in 1948 is nearing the end of its service life and is scheduled to be replaced. The bridge is located just north of Raffurty Road and just south of 1st Street in Pleasant Hill.  This project will require the closure of MO 7 during construction and impacts to the Rock Island Trail. The current bridge is a truss-style bridge, which can cost more and be more difficult to maintain.

Construction will take place on MO Route 7 from MO Route 291 to MO Route 58.

Construction and Potential Traffic Impacts

Construction is anticipated to take place from spring 2026 through the end of 2026. During construction, MO Route 7 will be CLOSED from MO Route 291 to MO Route 58.

Detour Route

Motorists are encouraged to use MO Route 58 and MO Route 291 during construction.

Impacts to the Rock Island Trail

The trail will be periodically closed for bridge demolition and other critical stages of construction. Outside of those times, the trail will remain open. The contractor will install a catchment while work is being done for active trail users. There will not be a signed detour for temporary trail closures.

Estimated Cost and Funding

The project is currently estimated to cost between $6-8 million and is state and federally funded.

The project is scheduled to let in Nov. 2025 with completion scheduled for the end of 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) Why not build a new bridge while keeping the old bridge open to traffic?
Building on the current alignment eliminates right-of-way impacts and lessens utility impacts.

2) Why don't we see any truss-style bridges being built anymore?

Girder-style bridges as compared to Truss-style bridges, can span longer distances which reduces overall construction and maintenance costs.
