Project Timeline
A new structure is replacing the current bridge over Agee Creek on Route 48 in Andrew County.
The project was part of the February 2020 letting, when contractors submitted competitive bids for the project.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the contract at their March 2020 meeting to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. in the amount of $1,824,358.65. This project and award amount also includes the replacement of a bridge on DeKalb County Route D over Ervens Branch.
The contractor closed the roadway to all traffic on May 26 in order to replace the bridge. During the closure, drivers should utilize Route M, U.S. Route 169, Route E and Route D to travel around the closure.
The contractor opened the new bridge to all traffic on Aug. 11, 2020.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why is MoDOT closing the road during construction?
A. Closing the road during the bridge replacement saves taxpayer money by allowing the contractor to work more efficiently. This will result in a shorter construction period.
Q. How long will the road be closed?
A. The contractor plans to reopen the bridge in mid-August.
Q. What is the detour?
A. A detour is signed over Route M, U.S. Route 169, Route E and Route D.
Q. Why not build a bypass?
A. Based on the cost/benefit ration, building a bypass would not be a prudent use of taxpayer funds. A bypass also could have negative impacts and disruption to private property.
Q. Will you have to acquire any right of way?
A. No
