Cooper County F over Stephens Branch Bridge Rehabilitation

Below are details, resources and news about the replacement of the deck of the Cooper County Route F bridge over Stephens Branch, near the town of Speed. The existing 55-year-old bridge carries up to 200 vehicles per day. The repairs are necessary to improve the condition of the bridge and extend the life of the structure.
Project Details
When:
June 5 - Sept. 1, 2023. Reopened to all traffic Friday, July 28, 2023
Cost:
A $6,952,040.99 contract was awarded for a three bridge project in Cooper and Howard counties.
Work Taking Place:
Bridge rehabilitation at the Stephens Branch Bridge will consist of replacing the bridge deck and installing concrete barriers.
Traffic Impact:
Cooper County Route F will be closed at the bridge during construction. Motorists will need to use alternate routes.
Project Milestones
On January 5, 2022, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the contract to Lehman Construction, LLC, which provided a low bid of $6,952,040. This contract also includes the replacement of the U.S. Route 40 bridge over Salt Creek and bridge deck replacement on Route 40 over Bonne Femme Creek (both in Howard County).
Lehman Construction, LLC was acquired by Capital Paving & Construction, LLC. Capital is assuming the Lehman contract.
The contractor plans to close Route F to all traffic at the bridge on Monday, June 5. The road is expected to reopen on or before Sept. 1, 2023.
