Buchanan County Route Y bridge replacement project to begin soon

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Two bridges on Buchanan County Route Y are scheduled to be replaced soon. The north Bee Creek Bridge, located between Old Frame Road and Missouri Route 116, and south Bee Creek Bridge, located between Route 116 and the Buchanan/Platte County line, will be replaced by Phillips Hardy, Inc. contracted by the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Crews plan to close Route Y at the south Bee Creek Bridge on Monday, April 3. The north bridge was closed on Monday, March 19 due to barrier and overhang damage. The bridges, both built in 1922, will be replaced with a single-span bridge at the north Bee Creek Bridge and a box culvert at the southern bridge. The contractor is scheduled to have all work completed and both sections of Route Y reopened by December 2023.

During both bridge replacements motorists will be directed around the closures via a signed detour on Route 371 from Buchanan County Route DD to Route H.
