Buchanan, Carroll, Gentry and Harrison counties bridge project to begin next week

Project will rehabilitate 33 Northwest Missouri Safe & Sound program bridges

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Thirty-three rural Northwest Missouri bridges are scheduled for rehabilitation as part of a project that spans four counties. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Capital Paving & Construction, LLC to complete the project which includes bridges in Buchanan, Carroll, Gentry and Harrison counties. These bridges were included in the Safe and Sound Bridge program which rebuilt more than 800 bridges approximately 12 years ago.

A list and interactive map of all 33 bridges can be found on the projects webpage at https://www.modot.org/safe-sound-bridge-rehabilitations-buchanan-carroll-gentry-harrison-counties.

The contractor is currently planning several brief work zones and/or closures at each bridge to minimize the overall impact to motorists. During these time periods, motorists will be directed through the one-lane work zones by flaggers. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place while work zones are active. Crews will be present during daylight hours, Monday through Friday.

Project updates including bridge information and closure dates, will be provided on the project’s webpage, the Traveler Information Map (http://traveler.modot.org/map/) and on the Planned Roadwork for Northwest Missouri press release sent out each Friday afternoon. The press release can be viewed by visiting the project webpage, or by signing up for eUpdates at https://www6.modot.mo.gov/eMoDOTWeb/jsp/signon/signon.jsp.

All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change. This project bundle is scheduled to be completed by the end of October 2023.
