Safe and Sound Bridge Rehabilitation Project
The Missouri Department of Transportation rebuilt more than 800 bridges approximately 13 years ago in the Safe & Sound Bridges program. The bridges shown in the map and list below were part of that program and each has an asphalt deck rated as fair to good condition. The lifecycle of asphalt is about 10 years. The resurfacing will act as a preservation treatment to ensure the bridges stay in as good as condition as possible.
When rebuilt during the Safe & Sound Bridges program, weep holes were built into the deck for drainage. Over time, run-off from the bridge surface erodes the painted exterior. To ensure the pre-cast, concrete portions of the supporting structures are protected, the bridges are being repainted.
This project was included in MoDOT's August 2024 contractor bid opening. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the project to Capital Paving and Construction, LLC at their September 2024 meeting.
The project is expected to begin on Monday, March 31.
During construction the roadway will be narrowed to one lane.
