REMINDER: Crews Will Temporarily CLOSE Left Handed Exit Ramps from I-435 to I-70 on Aug. 24

Expect These Ramps to be PERMANENTLY CLOSED by Sept. 6

JACKSON COUNTY –MoDOT Kansas City will temporarily CLOSE the left handed exit ramps from both southbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 AND northbound I-435 to westbound I-70 beginning at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 until approximately 9 p.m. the same evening. This closure is in preparation for the permanent closure of these ramps tentatively scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 6. All work is weather permitting.

  • REMINDER: There is a pre-season Kansas City Chiefs football game at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. There will be game day detours in place to get to the stadiums all season long. Find your detour here.
    • Chiefs fans headed to Arrowhead Stadium from the north are encouraged to take southbound I-435 to eastbound U.S. 40 Highway.
  • Crews will CLOSE the left handed exit ramp from southbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 beginning at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 until approximately 9 p.m.
    • DETOUR: Motorists needing to access eastbound I-70 from southbound I-435 are advised to exit at U.S Highway 40 and to travel eastbound on U.S. Highway 40 to the eastbound I-70 on ramp.
  • Crews will CLOSE the left handed exit ramp from northbound I-435 to westbound I-70 beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 until approximately 9 p.m.
    • DETOUR: Motorists needing to access westbound I-70 from northbound I-435 are advised to exit at 23rd Street and make a U-turn under the bridge to southbound I-435.  Motorists should then take the exit from southbound I-435 to westbound I-70.

In order for crews to permanently close these ramps and demolish the bridges the weekend of Sept. 6, there will be a FULL CLOSURE of I-70 in both directions in the Kansas City area. This is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 6. More details about this closure will be released soon.
