New Madrid County Bridges

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is planning to replace four bridges in New Madrid County, Missouri. The bridges are located on Route P over St. John’s Diversion Ditch, Route P over Maple Slough Ditch, Route B over Drainage Ditch No. 258 and Route W over Ash Slough Ditch.

  • The Route P bridge over St. John’s Diversion Ditch is located approximately 2.8 miles east of the intersection of Route V.
  • The Route P bridge over Maple Slough Ditch is located approximately 1.5 miles west of Route BB, east of Kewanee, Mo.
  • The Route B bridge over Drainage Ditch No. 258 is located approximately 1 mile north of Route PP, west of Portageville, Mo.
  • The Route W bridge over Ash Slough Ditch is located 5 miles west of Kewanee, Mo. and Route 61.

Letting for the bridges over St. John’s Diversion Ditch, Drainage Ditch No. 258 and Ash Slough Ditch is anticipated in November 2017. Letting for the bridge over Maple Slough Ditch is anticipated in January 2018. Construction of the four bridges could begin as early as spring 2018. As construction is underway, the roadway will be closed to through traffic in the vicinity of each bridge.

Maps, plans, and other information prepared by the Missouri Department of Transportation, or interested agency, will be available for public inspection and copying at the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Sikeston District office, 2675 N. Main Street, Sikeston, MO 63801.

Any person affected by this project may request that a public hearing be held in regard to the proposed improvements. Requests for a public hearing shall be in writing and must be submitted to District Engineer Mark Shelton at P.O. Box 160, Sikeston, MO 63801, by August 11, 2017.
