I-229 Moving Forward

The I-229 double-decker bridge is a unique piece of St. Joseph infrastructure that has served the community since it was completed in 1986. After completing an Environmental Assessment (EA), it was determined that the double-decker bridge will be removed and replaced with an at-grade four-lane roadway (raised where needed for flood resilience).

Buchanan County U.S. Route 59 & Alabama Intersection Improvement Project

This southern St. Joseph intersection is vital to local, motor carrier and rail traffic. The intersection improvement project aims to improve tractor-trailer turning movements and increase capacity for vehicles stopped at the Route U train crossing.

Clinton County I-35 Rehabilitation Project

A two-year project will begin in the spring of 2025 to rehabilitate a section of I-35, north and southbound, in Clinton County.  The project will also resurface and widen U.S Route 69
