Safety & Congestion on Route 47
As part of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), MoDOT budgeted $89 million for safety and congestion improvements along the Route 47 corridor in Washington, Union, and St. Clair. Congestion is a major concern along the corridor. The study will involve analyzing areas of the corridor such as Route 50/Route 47.
HNTB Corporation along with their partnering teams will be assisting MoDOT with this study. Initial tasks will include the following: data collection, traffic and safety analyses, identifying issues through the corridor, meeting with stakeholders, environmental assessments and developing engineering solutions to improve the corridor.
Anticipated Outcomes
Some of the outcomes of the study will likely include:
- The purpose and need for various improvements.
- Goals, objectives, and evaluation measures for this corridor.
- Alternative strategies to address identified problems.
- An analysis of possible impacts of these alternatives in terms of environmental, transportation, and financial impacts.
- An evaluation of how each alternative addresses the problems, goals, and objectives for the corridor.
