Purpose and Need / What's the Problem:

To rebuild the six mile stretch of concrete pavement on WB I-44 from just west of the Route B interchange in Webster County to just east of the Hwy 125 interchange in Strafford. Increase safety by extending the I-44 deceleration exit ramps at various locations and relocating the curve on EB I-44, 3.5 miles east of Rte. 125 in Strafford, to meet current interstate standards.

Project Information:

The I-44 Corridor Project will

  • Rebuild and resurface pavement on westbound I-44 east of Missouri Route 125 in Strafford to just west of the Webster County Route B overpass (between mile markers 90.1 and 96.1)
  • Realign eastbound I-44 curve (mile marker 91.5) east of Missouri Route 125 near Strafford
  • Extend I-44 exit ramps:
    • Westbound I-44 ramp at  Webster County Route B (mile marker 96)
    • Eastbound I-44 ramp at  Missouri Route 38 in Marshfield (mile marker 100)
    • Eastbound I-44 ramp at Sampson Road (mile marker 107)
    • East and westbound I-44 ramp at Conway Rest Area (mile maker 111)
  • Estimated Total Cost: $50 million

 Traffic Impacts:

  • Lane closures on I-44 at times
  • Both lanes of I-44 Open during peak hours 
  • I-44 exit ramp closures where crews are working
  • During higher traffic volume, drivers can expect delays
