I-70 PEL Process

How information was gathered for the study

The I-70 PEL Study was much broader in nature than previous studies. Members of the study team, working in collaboration with strategic partners and the public invested significant effort to help form a vision for the corridor. When completed, the study identified transportation needs and long term solutions. The intent was not to identify specific projects but rather to set a vision for the entire corridor - a different new approach to transportation planning in the region.

To gather information from major activity centers, municipalities, elected officials and community representative groups, several working groups met regularly to provide a broad perspective to the study.

MoDOT convened two advisory groups - a technical advisory group (TAG) and a senior advisory group (SAG). Members of these groups represent key stakeholders along this section of I-70 and provided valuable technical expertise during the planning process.

MoDOT also reached out to public officials within each of the municipalities that touch I-70 to gain more specific input from them. A 90-day on-line survey and several public meetings helped gain information from residents, business owners and communities.
