Evening resurfacing of I-44 in both the eastbound and westbound lanes from near the Laclede County line to near the St. Roberts and Waynesville area will restart in the summer of 2019 and is scheduled for completion in August of 2019. Motorists can expect one-lane closures in only one direction on I-44 from mile marker 145-177 in Laclede, Pulaski, and Phelps Counties from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays beginning in the summer of 2019.
The $12.9-million project included Interstate 44 resurfacing in Laclede, Pulaski and Phelps counties and bridge repair on three Phelps County bridges:
- The eastbound and westbound Interstate 44 bridges over Smith and Tater Hollow near Jerome.
- The I-44 westbound off-ramp bridge to Route D (Jerome) near Jerome.
Contractors extended the existing I-44 westbound climbing lane at mile marker 171.8 an additional 800 feet. This allows motorists more time to accelerate and merge with I-44 westbound traffic.
This project also included resurfacing and guardrail work on I-44 from mile marker 145-177 in Laclede, Pulaski and Phelps counties.
