Bridge Improvements on I-44 in Phelps County to Move Into Next Stage July 9

Eastbound I-44 Bridge Over Smith and Tater Hollow to Open Before the Fourth of July

PHELPS COUNTY – The Interstate 44 bridge improvement project in Phelps County will move into its second stage with bridge repair work on I-44 westbound off-ramp bridge to Route D (Jerome) scheduled to begin on Monday, July 9.

During the work, the westbound I-44 off-ramp to Route D (Jerome) will be closed to traffic. The ramp will be closed for one month while repairs are completed.

As part of this project, the I-44 westbound bridge over Smith and Tater Hollow currently has one lane of I-44 closed between mile markers 171-173 near Jerome. Weather permitting, bridge work will be completed and all lanes of westbound I-44 will be opened before the Fourth of July.

Repair work on a third bridge, the eastbound I-44 bridge over Smith and Tater Hollow, will begin at a date to be determined once repairs on the I-44 on-ramp bridge to Route D (Jerome) are completed.

The project also includes evening asphalt resurfacing and guardrail work on I-44 from mile marker 145 to mile marker 177 in Laclede, Pulaski, and Phelps Counties. Motorists can expect one-lane closures in only one direction on I-44 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays until late September.
