Over the past 10 years, there have been 31 traffic crashes at or adjacent to the intersection of U.S. Route 69 and Route EE, just north of Cameron in DeKalb County. After studying the types of crashes and the roadway geometry, MoDOT determined adding a left-turn lane for northbound traffic on U.S. Route 69 turning north onto Route EE would provide the largest benefit. The turn lane will be added by widening the outside (west side) of the curve on U.S. Route 69.

MoDOT's Planning and Design team, along with a consultant team, are designing a project which will add a left-turn lane for northbound traffic on U.S. Route 69 to turn north onto Route EE.

MoDOT's Right of Way department has begun to contact property owners on the west side of U.S. Route 69 for any necessary right of way needed for the project.

Project Construction

When the contract is awarded, the contractor will work with MoDOT to determine the exact schedule of work.

At this time, the roadway is expected to remain open during the turn lane construction, though brief closures may be necessary to tie in the current roadway with the new turn lane. Advance notice will be provided for any planned road closures.
