Business Highway 50 and Route J Sidewalk/ADA Improvements in Johnson

MoDOT will make sidewalk improvements at various locations on Business U.S. 50 (McPherson St.) from Washington Ave to near Sunshine Ln and at various locations on Johnson County Route J from Allen St. to south of McKissock St. This project includes ADA upgrades to existing sidewalks.

Estimated Cost and Funding 

The project is currently estimated to cost $3.03 million. The project will use MoDOT funding through the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, which is a combination of state and federal safety funding. Construction and Potential Traffic Impacts

Construction is scheduled to take place beginning in Spring/Summer of 2026 through the end of 2027. During construction, motorists may notice various lane and shoulder closures in the project area during construction. Access to driveways and entrances may also be impacted within the project area. 

Note: During MoDOT's construction, a separate project by the city of Knob Noster to make pedestrian improvements may be ongoing along these routes.
