PROJECT DETAILS
MoDOT is in the process of replacing the Baltimore Ave. bridge over I-670. This bridge was nearing the end of its service life necessitating its replacement. The new bridge will be the same height and width as the current bridge. The decorative fence on the existing bridge will be re-attached to the new structure. The cost of this bridge replacement is approximately $3.2 million and if fully funded using a combination of state and federal funds.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS AND TIMELINE
This project was let in January 2021 and construction began in the spring of 2021. The new bridge is anticipated to be completed by December 2021. During construction, Baltimore Ave. will be closed at Truman Rd. The Baltimore Ave. bridge detour is signed. Motorists will utilize 14th St., Main St., and 16th St., to route around the bridge closure. Motorists can expect some lane switches/closures on I-670.
The bridge demolition also required the TOTAL CLOSURE of I-670 between I-35 and I-70 (the south side of the downtown loop) the weekend of Aug. 7. Only one direction of I-670 will be closed at a time. Motorists must find alternates routes during this time:
