DETAILS CHANGED: Crews will CLOSE portion of I-670 the weekend Aug. 7-8

JACKSON COUNTY – MoDOT Kansas City is in the process of replacing the Baltimore Ave. Bridge over I-670. In order to place the bridge girders, crews will need to close both directions of I-670 between I-70 and I-35 the weekend of Aug. 7. Only one direction of I-670 will be closed at a time. Motorists must find alternates routes during this time. All work is weather permitting.

Saturday, Aug. 7 – Closure of westbound I-670

  • Crews will close westbound I-670 between I-70 and I-35 beginning at approximately 6 a.m. until approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7.
  • The following ramps will also be closed during this time:
    • The ramp from eastbound I-70 to westbound I-670.
    • The ramp from northbound U.S. 71 to westbound I-670.
    • The ramp from 10th St. to westbound I-670.
    • The ramp from westbound I-70 to westbound I-670.
  • NEW INFO: This closure should NOT impact travelers headed to Arrowhead Stadium for the Garth Brooks concert. Crews are scheduled to be off of the roadway before the concert concludes.
  • NEW INFO: This closure may impact travelers headed westbound on I-70 to any events in Power & Light or other areas of downtown Kansas City. Motorists must find alternate routes during the closure and should plan to leave early.

Sunday, Aug. 8 – Closure of eastbound I-670

  • NEW INFO: Crews will close eastbound I-670 between I-35 and I-70 beginning at approximately 3 a.m. until approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 8. Please note that this work was originally scheduled to begin at 6 a.m.
  • The following ramps will also be closed during this time:
    • The ramp from northbound I-35 to eastbound I-670.
    • The ramp from southbound I-35 to eastbound I-670.
    • The Truman Rd. ramp just past Broadway to eastbound I-670.
    • The ramp from Wyoming St. to eastbound I-670.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
