When:
The Notice to Proceed date is May 9, 2023, with a contract completion date of Nov. 1, 2023.
Cost:
A $1,124,421.80 contract was awarded to Sam Gaines Construction, Inc.
Work Taking Place:
The project consists of building a roundabout at the intersection of the eastbound U.S. Route 54 exit and entrance ramps with Route OO and intersection improvements at the westbound Route 54 exit and entrance ramps. The proposed intersection layout will improve traffic flow and safety at the ramp intersections.
Traffic Impact:
The eastbound U.S. Route 54 ramp intersection at Route OO will be closed for approximately one month to construct the roundabout. Traffic will be detoured to other state routes in the area. During construction at the westbound U.S. Route 54 ramp intersection, work will be done under traffic control.
Project Milestones
Meeting held at the Holts Summit Municipal Building.
The $1,124,421.80 contract was awarded to Sam Gaines Construction, Inc. during the April 2023 meeting of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission (MHTC).
The contractor plans to begin work May 22, 2023, with all work scheduled to be completed on or before July 16, 2023. The schedule is subject to change.
The work on the east side of the interchange required the complete closure of Route OO (Simon Boulevard) over U.S. Route 54 and the on/off ramps for northbound U.S. Route 54. The closure began Tuesday, May 30, and Route OO and the ramps reopened on Thursday, June 29.
All road closures are expected to be complete and reopened to the public on or before June 30. The contractor's current plan is to have all work completed on or before July 16. This date is subject to change.
