A routine inspection revealed critical deterioration to the structure and it was closed for the safety of all motorists.
MoDOT contracted with Burns and McDonnell to design a new structure to replace the current bridge over the Middle Fork of the Grand River on Route YY in Worth County.
The project was part of the September 2019 letting. The project was accelerated as part of Governor Parson's Focus on Bridges program.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a contract for this project to Boone Construction Co. in the amount of $1,594,505.80 at their October 2019 meeting.
The contract's notice to proceed date for the contractor is Nov. 4, 2019. They plan to begin work the week of Nov. 25, 2019.
The date the contractor must be completed with all work, by contract, is December 1, 2020, however, the contractor plans to be complete and reopen the bridge to all traffic in spring 2020.
Crews were able to reopen the bridge to all traffic on May 21, 2020.
