Purpose and Need / What's the Problem:

To relieve traffic congestion between Christian County Route CC/J and Christian County Route F in Ozark.

Project Information:

The project will widen Route 65 by adding a lane in each direction in the median between Route CC/J and Missouri Route 14 and adding auxiliary lanes that connect the interchange ramps between Route 14 and Route F.  The estimated total project cost is $30.3 million.

Crews will begin bridge construction for the widening of the bridges over Finley Creek with no traffic impacts. Future widening operations from Route CC to Route F will begin in 2024.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Nighttime lane closings on Route 65 at times
  • Two lanes open on Route 65 in each direction during daytime hours. Traffic congestion expected on Route 65.
  • Route 65 traffic shifts to accommodate bridge work at Finley Creek

Frequently Asked Questions:

Will U.S. Route 65 be Closed?

U.S. Route 65 will have nighttime lane closings at times, but during daytime hours Route 65 will be open in both directions with two lanes of traffic.

Why are there not sound walls being built?

A sound study is done whenever MoDOT adds through lanes, a new road or changes the alignment of a roadway.  We can only build walls in those locations where all criteria are met.  Additional information on the noise policy can be found here.
