Project Summary

This project along U.S. 61/67 stretches 9.7 miles, beginning at the intersection of Route M and U.S. 61/67 near Barnhart and ending at the intersection of American Legion Dr. and U.S. 61/67 in Festus. It covers the cities of Barnhart, Pevely, Herculaneum, Crystal City, and Festus.

The project is focused on maintaining the longevity of the life of this stretch of roadway.

The goal is to provide preventive maintenance by resurfacing the existing U.S. 61/67 pavement. Guardrail upgrades along portions of the corridor, pedestrian facility upgrades at the southern end of the project, and signal replacements at four intersections (Route M, Beffa St., Route A, and American Legion Dr.) are also included in the project, along with three box culvert replacements.

Frequently Asked Questions

IMPACT TO TRAFFIC

There may be some lane closures to allow for pavement rehabilitation and box culvert replacements. This may include closing the northbound or southbound lanes while leaving a two-lane section that can be maintained for two-way traffic. Businesses will have entrance diversions, where possible, or partially closed entrances where access is unconnected or limited. There will never be a total shut down to a movement or access. Local churches, schools, emergency responders, businesses and residents will be contacted ahead of construction to discuss possible traffic delays and closures.

WILL THERE BE ANY RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION?

The Missouri Department of Transportation will need to purchase some temporary and permanent easements to give the contractor working room for construction and guardrail rehabilitation.

COST OF PROJECT

$16.5 Million.
