About this Project

MoDOT will be replacing the bridge deck on the Highway 50 westbound bridge over Union Pacific Railroad. The project is 1.2 miles east of Missouri Route 23 and 0.5 miles west of Route D in Knob Noster. This bridge carries about 7,000 vehicles a day. The bridge was built in 1956 and proposed work will extend the life of the bridge.

MoDOT began construction in February 2024 and activities are anticipated to be completed by Fall 2024.

Traffic Implications

During construction, traffic on Highway 50 will be reduced to one lane in each direction.  Median crossovers will be constructed to direct westbound traffic, on to the eastbound bridge. For safety, North Vaughn Street at Highway 50 in Knob Noster will be closed.  Also, the median will be closed on the north side of Highway 50 just to the east of the bridge. Businesses at this location will be restricted to right in/right out movements.
