Due to age, the Loughborough and Weber bridges over Interstate 55 need to be replaced and updated to current standards. At the same time, the city of St. Louis needs to replace the Loughborough bridge over the railroad tracks to the west.  Current plans include working on both bridges at the same time to reduce impact to traffic.  This meeting is to get information from the public on concerns and issues they may see around the area.  Plans are for any construction to start in late 2027.

MoDOT will host an open-house style public meeting for its Route AC (New Halls Ferry Rd.) corridor upgrades project. The meeting will focus on proposed plans for improvement of Route AC from south of I-270 to St. Cyr Rd. Planned improvements include resurfacing the existing roadway, updating the corridor's pedestrian infrastructure to meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements, and upgrading traffic signals. 

MoDOT is working on a preliminary design for expanding westbound U.S. Route 54 in Jefferson City to three lanes and reconfiguring the Callaway County Route W (Airport Road) ramps to accommodate the new lane.

The project includes bridge deck replacements on the Carroll County Route JJ bridge over West Fork Wakenda Creek, the Carroll County Route B bridge over Sambo Creek, the Chariton County Route KK bridge over the Little Chariton River and the Livingston County Route D bridge over the Shoal Creek Drainage Ditch.

You are invited to attend a public open-house meeting to discuss the four bridge projects on Thursday, May 22, at the Carrollton Public Library (1 N. Folger St., Carrollton, MO 64633). Attendees are welcome to come any time between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. 

The meeting will allow the public to share their thoughts and concerns about the design for the bridge projects and to provide comments, either directly to the engineers or through a comment form. No formal presentation will be made.

The project includes bridge deck replacements on the Grundy County Route E bridge over the Medicine Creek Drainage Ditch, the Linn County Route U bridge over Long Branch and the Linn County Route B bridge over Parsons Creek.

The meeting will take place May 27, 2025, from 4 pm - 7pm at the North Kansas City YMCA located at 1999 Iron Street, North Kansas City, MO 64116. Please note that this is an open house style meeting, and NO formal presentations will be made. Those interested can attend the meeting anytime between the advertised hours to ask questions, learn more about the project, and leave comments. For those unable to attend the meeting or access the project information online, project materials are available by request at the MoDOT district office located at 600 NE Colbern Rd. in Lee’s Summit, MO.
