Planning Phase

The 214-foot long Howard County Bonne Femme Creek Bridge on Route P, in New Franklin, was built in 1961 and carries approximately 650 vehicles per day. The supporting structures of the bridge are in good condition, but the deck of the bridge has deteriorated to the point it needs to be replaced. During the project, the bridge will be widened from 22 feet to 24 feet. The bridge will be closed during the project and motorists will need to use an alternate route.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is MoDOT replacing the bridge deck?

Built in 1961, the deck or driving surface of the bridge has deteriorated to the point it needs replaced.

How will the construction affect traffic?

The bridge will be closed to all traffic during construction. The contractor will be allowed up to 85 days for the closure and motorists will need to use an alternate route.

Why is MoDOT closing the road during construction?

MoDOT strives to be a good steward of taxpayer money. By closing the roadway at the Bonne Femme Creek Bridge, the contractor will be able to work more efficiently within a shorter construction period, saving taxpayer dollars and reducing the time construction will affect motorists.
