In Progress
Route 124 Bridge Over Grindstone Creek Bridge Replacement

The replacement of the Missouri Route 124 bridge over Grindstone Creek in Boone County is underway. The work is not expected to impact traffic.

The new bridge, approximately one-half mile west of U.S. Route 63, is being built on new alignment immediately to the south of the existing bridge. Route 124 will remain open during construction of the new bridge until work is necessary to tie the new alignment to the existing roadway this summer. At that time, Route 124 will be closed for a short period of time to complete this final grading and paving work.

Project Overview:

The project will replace the Missouri Route 124 bridge over Grindstone Creek. The bridge is located west of Route 63 in northern Boone County. The new bridge will be six feet wider and will be built on new alignment immediately to the south of the existing bridge. Construction is now underway on the new bridge.

Traffic Impacts:

Route 124 will remain open during construction of the new bridge until work is necessary to tie the new alignment to the existing roadway. At that time, Route 124 will be closed for a short period of time to complete this final grading and paving work. Alternate routes will be available during this phase of the construction.

Cost:

The total cost is approximately $1 million.

Why is this work necessary?

The existing Grindstone Creek Bridge was built in 1932 and is 86 years old. The condition of the bridge has reached a point where replacement is necessary.
