Frequently Asked Questions
Why couldn’t the bridge remain open?
Recent inspection findings showed advanced deterioration on structural members of the bridge, meaning posting a load limit on the bridge was not an acceptable option. Based on our inspection, this bridge has deteriorated to a condition warranting closure.
Is right‑of‑way needed?
Yes. New right‑of‑way is required for the replacement bridge. If your property is impacted, MoDOT will contact you soon.
How long will Route K be closed?
Route K will remain closed until the new bridge is built. The duration of the closure depends on the progress of several factors including right‑of‑way acquisition and final design.
Will access to my property and nearby businesses be maintained?
Yes, access to driveways, field entrances and businesses will be maintained during the project.
When will more information be available?
Additional details, including bridge design, construction timeline, detours, etc., will be released as the project advances through the process.
